23-10-07 Charity workers selected for India Trip

Managers from award-winning Merseyside charity ‘Safeguarding Children Services’ have been invited to join a team of experts who are visiting Southern India in November.

Jaci Quennell, one of the managers, explains ‘We will be sharing our expertise in working with traumatised and exploited children, with projects that work with street children and children from slum areas This trip follows the international lecturing that we did for the Baltic States last year.
We will be fundraising before we go so that we can give some practical help to the projects as well.’

Elaine Allison is the other project manager selected to join the trip. She says ‘We were chosen for this trip on the basis of a national award that we have won for our work with socially excluded young people. We are hoping that by visiting projects in India that run on very limited funding, we can gain some perspective on the funding problems that we face – as a small charity we struggle for funding and we tend to forget how much we can achieve with limited resources. Our most important resource is our skilled and qualified staff team’.
