Foreword from our patron:
I first became aware of Safeguarding Children's Services,
when founders Jaci Quennell and Elaine Allison visited
the European Parliament to discuss international protocols
on protecting children from internet abuse in September
2006.
As a Member of the European Parliament I am actively
supporting campaigns to safeguard women and children
against international trafficking and I am also working
closely with national children's organisations to draft
legislation to protect children from paedophiles on
the Internet. Therefore, when Jaci and Elaine asked
me to be their Patron I had no hesitation in saying
yes to two people who put children first.
Safeguarding Children Services has a small but hard-working
team who are committed to promoting best practice in
safeguarding children and young people. They work directly
with children and young people in their local area,
offering innovative programmes to reduce risk. They
work regionally, nationally and internationally to train
professionals and to influence policy and gave vulnerable
young people a sense of worth and enhance their self
esteem.
I am pleased to be able to support the work that Safeguarding
Children's Services do with marginalised, at risk and
abused children and young people.
